Surprise

Author: Dr Roger Gibson

On the morning of his fortieth birthday, Geoff Rayerton, an accountant for a firm in Swindon, is irritated when neither his wife Maggie, his son Jamie, nor his daughter Diana give him any birthday greeting. This is especially disappointing when none of them seems to have remembered to get him a card, nor any kind of present.

He goes to work, and his secretary, Millie, keeps smiling at him in a somewhat unusual way. Neither Millie nor anyone else wishes Geoff happy birthday – until, at half past four, Millie asks him if he’s like to come round her place for a drink.

They drive round to her flat in Geoff’s car, and Millie is very friendly – grinning at him suggestively, as if she is fond of him in a special new way.

When they arrive at the flat she tells Geoff to get ready for her – while she goes out of the room to get ready. Geoff is quite certain now that his luck has changed. He strips naked and sits – in very obvious and manifest excitement – waiting for Millie to reappear in a black negligee, or sexy bra and thong, or nothing.

The door re-opens, and in rush not only Millie, but all his family and a few well wishers from work, shouting: “Surprise! Surprise! Happy Birthday!”
