Cohen dies.
He arrives at the Pearly Gates, and is greeted by St. Peter. The saint welcomes him warmly.
“Good to see you up here, Cohen old chap. You’ll be pleased to hear that it’s very easy to get through the gates into Heaven. Answer one simple question right, and in you go. Here’s the question. How do you spell love?”
“L, O, V, E,” Cohen replies - fearing that it might be more of a riddle than it seemed.
“That’s fine, Cohen,” St Peter says. “You’ve passed. Look here, old man, could you just man the fort a wee while? There’s something I need to talk to Gabriel about.”
Cohen agrees, and seats himself in Peter’s place. The next person to arrive up is his wife Esther. She is filled with joy when she sees him. She explains that she died of a broken heart very soon after him.
She’s looking forward to eternity with her beloved Isaac.
“Yes, Esther,” Cohen says. “All you need to do is pass a spelling test – only one word.”
“What word do I have to spell, Isaac?”
“Czechoslovakia,” Cohen says.
